After the - cease-fire Sir: The Israelis are not lady to
take the same flattering view of the part played by America and Britain during the last few weeks as the Arabs do. They can rightly say, 'Thank you for nothing.'
It was the failure of Britain and the United States
to act or even to take an unequivocal stand when Nasser closed the Straits of Tiran that made fight- ing inevitable.
If we hope to repair the damage to our credit and regain some right to advise the victors, we will have to offer guarantees more precise and binding than those given after Suez. If anyone's face needs saving at this time, it is ours.
