In the House of Commons the announcement was made by

Mr. Asquith. Mr. Boner Law, in his reply, remarked upon the extreme gravity of the changes. He felt sure the Prime Minister would recognize that it was a subject which should be discussed in the House. Since, however, the King was still in India he thought it would be very undesirable to have any discussion which might be of a critical nature in regard to something which had just been done in the person of his Majesty himself. Mr. Asquith replied shortly to the effect that he was in agreement with Mr. Bonar Law's remarks.
