My life with the BBC
Sir: I worked at the BBC during the war, though not in Mr Playfair's department (Personal column'. 9 August). 1 remember well the two brown-overalled visitants, but the second one came to us much less often than once a week. 'Any trouble with mice?' he invariably inquired, and on receiving a negative reply disappeared for another three months or so. I never saw a mouse, or any sign of one, during my eleven years with the Corporation. Rats were mentioned quite often.
