Trade and Politics
As the Spectator has suggested, the time seems to be ripe for a review of our traditional fiscal and financial policies. The report of the British Electrical and Allied Manufacturers' Association urges that "some form of control is 'necessary," either through the fiscal policy or Imperial rationalization. The Associated Chambers of Commerce have also appealed for a review of fiscal and financial policy, and the appeal is backed on every side except that of those Free Traders who refuse to compromise, and cling to the doctrines of laissez faire which have been abandoned in part in every field but that
of tariffs. * * * *
