JULIETTE'S WEEKLY FROLIC The longed-for scoop of three wins from
three selections materialised last weekend, only to be foiled by disastrous starting- prices. leaving the return a mere £6.33. Meanwhile the Derby remains an enigma— York's Dante Stakes destroyed two more hopefuls in Seaepic and Delmonico.
On Saturday another batch of potential `legends' who at the start of the season counted for little in classic terms, meet for I.adbroke's Derby Trial. Spoiled Lad took Epsom's Blue Rihand Trial, but Murless's Charladouce, put in a rousing finish there and if not for switching position two fur- longs out, could have turned a neck defeat into a comfortable win. He is still a maiden but I shall give him my support.
The preceding day's fillies' trial is poor sport by comparison—of the seven declared only Hants and Example figure in Oaks betting. The latter had an easy win from odds-on Song of the Sea in a small race at Bath and she could win this rehearsal. Reverting briefly to the neglected 'chasers. Jolly Roger has strong appeal-in the Roddy Baker Gold Cup at Stratford on Friday evening. Chandigar and Copperless may prove tough opponents, but two wins and one fall is the enviable record of my selection.
Assets: £73.20. Outlay: £3 ew Charladouce, £2 to win Example and Jolly Roger.
