The Grain Trade Means of helping the grain trade have
lately been the concern 'of all the Parties. Mr. E. F. Wise's plans for large-scale purchase and stabilization of prices have been discussed without prejudice in the House of Commons, and Mr. Baldwin's promised pronouncement is eagerly awaited. The slump in all grain prices has accentuated the difficulties, already great, of grain merchants which were caused by the concentration of producers and the milling interests, and some remedy is urgently needed. If it is true, as a leading merchant has said, that there is " no organization that can take advantage of the position and lay in a surplus," it is time that one was created.
