The proceedings in the suit of Metairie versus Wiseman were

prolonged through all this week till yesterday, and then abruptly terminated, by an offer from Mr. Stuart, one of the counsel of the defendants, to deposit-the fund in court. The statements in the case have evidently been coloured by reli- gious excitement. The proposal of the defendants was approved of by the Judge, and agreed to by the other side.
