THE Lyceum has become, for the nonce, an Italian Opera-house,
being occupied by a company consisting of the principal performers who belonged last season to Her Majesty's Theatre, with a few addi- tions. The enterprise is under the management of Mr. Mapleson. The theatre opened on Saturday last with the hackneyed Trovatore, performed nearly in the same way as at Her Majesty's Theatre last year; that is to say, with Titi ens as the heroine, Ginglini as Manrico, and Alboni as the gipsy "invents. The part of the Count di Luna was filled by Signor delle Sedie, a new-comer, an excellent baritone, and a good actor. LucreMa .Borgia has also been performed, precisely as before. Verdi's new opera, Un Ballo in Maschera, a work never yet performed in England, is to be produced this evening.
At the Royal Italian Opera nothing new has occurred. But at this theatre, too, Verdi's new opera is to be brought out next week.
