Mr Steve Brodie
In my column last week I made an unfortunate ill-founded reference to the death of the Picture Editor of the Sunday Times, Mr Steve Brodie. The passage stated that the Sunday Times, through its encouragement of jogging, bore responsibility for Mr Brodie's collapse and subsequent death and the Editor of the paper had made it incumbent on Mr Brodie to take up jogging. These suggestions are all wholly unjustified and I apologise to Mr Brodie's colleagues on the Sunday Times, to its Editor, Mr Harold Evans, and especially to the widow, Mrs Ingrid Brodie, for the distress caused by this tasteless allegation.
