Another death this week must be noticed, that of Mr.
George Brodrick, until a few months ago the Warden of Merton College, Oxford. Mr. Brodrick leaves a host of friends, both of his own and of the present generation, who were devoted to him. For many years he worked as a journalist in London as a leader-writer on the Times. He three times stood for Parliament, but never succeeded in gaining a seat. The close of his life, passed as the Head of an Oxford College, was useful and happy. No man more keenly enjoyed being Head of a House, and though he was a bachelor, few contributed more in a quiet way to the social solidarity of the University.
