There was an alarm on Thursday that the Colorado beetle
had landed on the quays in Dublin, but Sir M. Hicks-Beach assured the House of Commons on Thursday evening that the intelligence was erroneous. Another beetle, twice his size, and not of any allied species, had been found on the quays in Dublin ; and no -doubt he lost his life at once, in consequence of being mistaken for a member of this more dangerous race. An invasion of Ireland by the Colorado beetle would be resisted even by tho Fenians.
