JUTE COMPETITION.
Mr. J. Ernest Cox, at the meeting of Jute Industries, was faced with the paradox of a company which has earned increased profits, and at the same time is making applications to the Government for relief from Indian competition. He explained the paradox all too well. Last year's increased profits were due to the large orders placed at the beginning of the year and to the strike in the Indian mills.
