Snt,—The author of the lines asked for by " W. W. R." in your last issue is D. F. Gurney, and they occur in some verses beginning
"The Lord God planted a garden In the first white days of the world,"
which have been set to music by Frank Lambert. They are, how- ever, not quoted quite correctly, but should run :- " The kiss of the sun for pardon, The song of the birds for mirth— One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth."
At least, that is how they are published in the song entitled " God's Garden."—I am, Sir, &c., W. D.
