We are not suggesting for a moment that because the

Americans arc our flesh and blood and because they talk English they must necessarily be incorporated in the British Army. If they prefer to serve with the French or the Belgians, by all means let them do so. There will not be the slightest jealousy or resentment felt here. As a matter of fact, however, we believe that, in spite of the very warm feeling there is among all Americans, whether soldiers, sailors, or civilians, towards France, the rank-and-file would, probably prefer to lie alongside troops who spoke their own language and for whom the essential military words " Bacon, Baccy Beef, and Beer " had the same significance.
