Communism denied
Sir: We have been advised, rather late unfortunately, that certain letter to the editor of The Spectator claimed that the Israeli League for Human and Civil Rights is a communist front organisation. We declare such claim unfounded and malicious and deny it completely. Our League is open for all people who believe in, and strive for, human rights as defined by the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948.
Our League was founded in 1935 and its Constitution, adopted in 1937, was and remains consistent with the principles laid down in the UN Declaration.
