lloutledge's New Dictionary of the English Language. Edited by Cecil
Weatherly. (G. Routledge and Sons. Ss. 6d.)—So far as we have tested it, this seems to be one of the best concise dictionaries in existence. It is partly balled on Webster, but Mr. Weatherly has been at pains to consult Skeat and the New English Dictionary for derivations, as well as the Century Dictionary and the Encyclopaedia Britannica for scientific and technical terms. The pronun- ciation is clearly marked, and the definitions are concise but adequate. Mr. Weatherly deserves much credit for the execution, at once scholarly and popular, of a very laborious task.
