It is worth notice with regard to the division on
the Cumu- lative Vote that about 62 per cent. of the majority who opposed the measure were men above fifty years of age,—i. e., men whose political ideas were likely to be stereotyped, while 70 per cent. of the minority were men below that age, men whose ideas are more likely to influence the future than the present.
