DOMESTIC SERVICE AND NURSING

Sin.- -It 'seems a curious survival of snobbery and one that militates against two honourable vocations, that when selecting candidates for hospital nursing service those who have had sonic experience in domestic service are told that, if they enter this on their application forms, they will not be accepted. _
At two hospitals lately candidates I have bem interested in II1V.2 been so warned.
There appears to be no discrimination against. say, typists or clerks. Now it is obvious that an intelligent girl who has had some experience in the all-round training of domestic work would be infinitely more likely to be useful in nursing than one who has had only the more mechanical employment of the ordinary typist or shop assistant. Will hospital authorities take note and give instructions accordingly ?- -
