To the various " Readers " which compete for a

place in ele- mentary education, must be added Chambers's Expressive Readers (W. and R. Chambers). These are six books suited to the six standards. The readings are, when necessary, supplied with glossaries, and the various books are furnished with exercises in spelling, grammar, Ice., with grammatical explanations. The volumes, we should add, are illustrated.—In the same series belong Chambers's Expressive Infant Reader, and Chambers's Ex- pressive Primer, Parts I. and II.
