The following anecdote is sent to the Times by an
ear-witness,
" A. B."— •
" A decent farmer's wife, travelling up to town f-om Oxford, addressed a gentleman opposite to her—' Ah, Sir, these arc sad times : what is to become of us? That dreadful Dr. Posey sacrifices a lamb every Friday.' Gentle- man—' Indeed, Madam, I cannot believe it; you must be misinformed.' Oh, no, Sir; I assure you I have it from undoubted authority.' Gentleman- ' Again, Madam, I must beg leave to contradict it. Well, Sir, you are wel- come to do so ; but no one but the Doctor himself could convince me that it was not so.' Gentleman—' Madam, lam Dr. Pusey.'"
