Irish style
Sir: Christopher Hollis's well-informed sketch on student life—Irish style—made interesting reading (29 March). His last remark had a subtle air of double meaning. 'Student life in Ireland . . . is indeed in the end, much the same as it is elsewhere, but expresses itself in a refreshingly different language.' Is the writer under the impression that Irish students speak Gaelic? If this is so—he is wrong. He has also missed one of Mr Howard Kinlay's more im- portant ideas: that students should have a greater role in the running and policy of the university.
