Predicament

It was interesting, listening to Mr. Grimond's forcefully delivered speech on Saturday, to ob- serve the ferocity of his attack on the Labour Party. It must be horribly obvious to any Liberal that their best hope lies in yet another Labour defeat. The weight of the Liberal attack has .'nevertheless fallen upon the Tories over the years. If Mr. Grimond was signalling a change of emphasis it is rather late in the day. The Liberals are in the harrowing predicament of having had to rely on stoking up anti-Tory feelings between the elections while facing evil days if the Tories are turned out of office. Like some casualty of the evolutionary process, they are impelled to nourish their natural predator.
