The amendment moved by the Independent Labour Party was rejected

by one million eight hundred and three thousand votes to three hundred and thirty-four thousand. This looked decisive, but the Conference had a sting to administer to the Government after all. Much support was given to a resolution demanding a more serious consideration of the Mosley memorandum on unemployment. The resolution was lost by the relatively small majority of one million two hundred and fifty one thousand to one million and forty-six thousand.
