Taking the Mickey I hear that Private Eye, that frequently
funny satirical squib that fizzes fortnightly out of Chelsea, is to have a rival soon. There is news of a new satirical magazine called Relax that is to make its first appearance in July. It is to be edited by Albert Vajda with the active assistance of six London University undergraduates, and I hear that the first three issues—of ten thousand copies each—are already guaranteed. Mr. Vajda is a Hungarian who arrived here at the time of the Budapest rising. He had a considerable repu- tation as a satirical writer in his own country, and since coming to London he has published a book in Hungarian which makes wry fun of the experiences which followed his discovery that he was losing his eyesight. An English version called Journey Round My I is to be published at the end of this month.
