The City reporter of the Globe, this evening, makes a
statement which qualifies the worst fears respecting the earthquake in the West ladies- " We hear from parties connected with the West Indies, that the damage done by the late earthquake will not be of the serious permanent nature that might have been expected. The sugar-houses are greatly injured, but the crops are saved ; therefore the planters will be able to repair their works suffi- ciently to enable them to employ the crops."
