Lord Selborne has recommended Mr. C. E. Pollock for the

Puisne Judgeship in the Exchequer Court vacant by the resig- nation of Mr. Justice Channell. Mr. Pollock, who is only forty- seven, had no party claims whatever, being a hereditary Conser- vative who had never sat in Parliament. He was recommended by his merits alone, and the want felt at the Exchequer of a Judge experienced in business.
