and Son.)—Captain Conder claims to have made a great discovery in the reading of Hittite inscriptions. It is a subject on which we do not pretend to have an opinion, and we must, therefore, commend his book to the notice of such students as its subject may concern. Captain Conder has done good service to Oriental research ; but he has not hitherto been supposed to be a scholar in Oriental languages.
