Sir: I do not know what Mr Auberon Waugh's source was for his story about the late Lord Egremont and Sir Roger Hollis (4 April). I can, however, assure you that the story is quite untrue. In any case it would have been totally out of character for John Egremont to have acted in the way suggested. He was often funny and frequently irreverent, but never silly or indiscreet.
