The Ionian Parliament has voted the annexation of the Septinsular

Republic to Greece. As the members lose in allowances, officials in salaries, merchants in trade, the peo- ple in wages, and all classes in protection abroad, the vote is a proof of the earnestness of the islanders' desire for nationality. We trust that they will yet supply to Greece the statesmen of whom she seems to stand in such present need.
