The Republic of Plato. Translated by Thomas Taylor. Edited, with
an Introduction, by Theodore Wratislaw. (W. Scott.)— Taylor's translation served its generation fairly well; but it is altogether superseded by versions that have been published of late years, Davie's and Vaughan's, for instance, and Professor Jewett's. Still, readers may be sure that even Taylor gives them a good deal of the substance of Plato.
