Gott begins his review of Messrs. Buchan and Windsor's Arms

and Stability in Europe by asserting that 'few English strategists today bother even to consider the moral aspects' of nuclear war. From his ivory tower Mr. Gott can afford this jibe, but if he learned to report events he might come to see sense and moderation. The fact is that virtually every 'Englist strategist' is a persistent critic of strategies which fail to understand the immorality of using nuclear weapons indiscriminately. Unlike Mr. Gott we also look for rational alternatives.
