How America won Freedom. By the author of "Household Proverbs,"
dm. Second edition. (Shaw and Co.)—This is the second edition of a small work which was originally published under the title of "A Nation's Manhood "—a name which it has been thought advisable to change, as its purport has, on more than one occasion, been misunder- stood. It is, of course, hoped that the interest generally felt in this country in the American war will be strong enough to ensure the sale of the present issue. The book, which is more a history of Washington than of the American war, is constructed somewhat on the plan of Mrs. Markham's well-known historical works ; and, as a means of imparting to young children some acquaintance with the events of a very interest- ing and important period, it may possibly he found useful.
