In the anticipatory sketch of the Queen's Speech, published as
a leader in the Times of Thursday, mention is made of a " meed of praise" rendered to Lord Salisbury in the Speech for his conduct at Constantinople. What became of that paragraph? It is not very likely that the Times invented the statement, and the deduction, therefore, is that it was struck out after Wednes- day night, of course with the consent of the Premier and Foreign Secretary. Odd. Suppose Midhat in his exile publishes his ac- count of the reasons which induced him to disregard Lord Salis- bury's representations.
