SIR,--The sooner we can impose-and enforce-a 70 m.p.h. speed limit on all public highways the better. High speeds are all right for a fast car driven by a good driver where he has a straight road almost to himself. There is generally too much traffic on motorways for this to be safe for most drivers; and vanity makes some owners of expensive cars think they are better drivers than they are.
