No Humdrum Life for Me. By Mrs. S. Kent Spender.
(Hutchin- son.)—This is the story of an ambitious young woman who starts in life with the purpose announced in the words which give a title to the volume. It is told in interesting fashion. The heroine never alienates our sympathies, whatever her faults or her mis- takes, and we recognise that though she has to stoop to something like the "humdrum life" at last, she has not altogether failed. It is a particularly well-told tale, with bright dialogue, and characters naturally drawn.
