Co.)—The " Major " tells the story of his campaigning in a spirited and pleasant fashion. He joined the 66th in 1808, first smelt powder at the passage of the Douro, and finished his career at the Battle of Talavera, where he was wounded, after the battle, by a French soldier lying on the ground. Some incidents of a personal kind are introduced into the story, and the result is a successful little tale.
